A Visit to Dr. Martha's Office

Dr. Martha's receptionist is sick today, so she is manning the desk herself.

Looks like Colossus and Nyota are in the waiting room. Hmmm?

They look like they might be anticipating some news.

Dr. Martha's office is really nice. She furnished it with prints from her favorite artists, Georgia O'Keeffe and Matisse. She also loves the Fauve quality of the flower painting near her desk.

Looks like she's got a lot of patients to see, as well.

A huge thanks to my new German miniature friend, Monika, for most of the wonderful stuff in this post. We did an exchange for the CB2 chairs and all this great stuff is what she sent me. Here's what's from Monika:
Modella red chairs (there were so many...doctor's office was my first thought), the two fabulous chests, telephone, plants, shell displays, and light fixture. The office is the Ikea Lekman box again. The book is from Oese. I made the room divider/planter from Legos and some weird plastic thing I took out of the garbage at work. That's moss in there. Desk is Plan Toys. Computer is Barbie and Playmobil. Files and holder are re-ment. All action figures have been named in prior posts except for the little girl who is from a work friend, Maria, who gave me a lot of toys she said she was tired of picking up off the floor.

Dortmunder Manifest

I am always impressed with Oese who does the blog Raum für Raum for her wonderful use of many different items for her artwork. I also like her color themed scenes. Ever since she sent me this postcard of the Dortmunder Manifest, I have wanted to use it in a color themed scene. This is not much, but I also discovered I do not have much in the way of red stuff.

Yep, the Lekman box from Ikea as room again. The chairs are CB2. Red side table is Plan Toys. Fern is from Michaels. Plant in pot is from my nephew, Nicholas. Figures are Nick Cutter and Stephen Hart from "Primeval," and Martha Jones is from "Doctor Who." Purse is Barbie. Book is from Oese as is, of course, the postcard. Floor is a wallpaper sample.

this is a man's world, but it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl

Stephen has been working hard to fix his Man Cave up. He has installed shelving, bought a big ol' couch, and decorated with some of his favorite things. He loves cars, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman, photography, sci-fi, his skateboard and bike. Handcuffs???

Here come the girls.  James Brown was right when he sang that song.

And they came bearing gifts. Nyota brought pillows she made to make the new couch more comfy.

Martha brought fake plants as she knows Stephen isn't into plant care.

Rosie brought a funny dinosaur she painted pink to match her shirt.

Doctor Who went out and got a bunch of great movie posters. He knows Stephen loves campy old sci-fi movies.

Party Time! Martha and Nyota check out the cabinet.

The dino looks great next to Stephen's cool fake cactus. Stephen found the poster in Florence, Alabama. He may just have to go to Moulton to see the chicks go wild.

Fun times; good friends.

Credits later.

Bar None

Colossus and Nick came over to help Stephen put his new bar together. He got it a new joint venture by Lego and Ikea...what was the name of it?  Legokea or Ikeago...he can't remember. Some clever person realized that some people never outgrow Legos. So they made some great big blocks and they fit together to make furniture. You will notice that the floor has been covered in wood from an old barn someone tore down. Stephen decided to keep the walls white as he just could not decide what wallcovering was best.

Stephen and Nick work on the cabinet.

The finished cabinet. Some storage and a great place for ice. Even a little shovel to get it out with.

Colossus works on the stools.

Nice job Colossus. Not quite sure why Ikeago thought the bumps on the chairs were a good idea.

And the bar is perfect.

It even has that little bar near the bottom to rest your feet on.

Colossus brought a Man Cave warming present, a bottle of his favorite hot sauce.

When Sulu comes over, he brings a sink cabinet. It may be a bit small, but now Stephen doesn't have to go upstairs to wash glasses.

Nick brought some enormous Scrabble tiles to spell BAR (5 points) and Doctor Who brought a cool beer poster from Hawaii.
Now, if Sulu doesn't fall off his chair, they should have a fun evening.

Bar, cabinet, and stools are all from my son's Lego collection. I spent the whole day coming up with the designs. Barnwood flooring is scrapbook paper. Beers and pop are re-ment. Lantern and beer coaster are gifts from my sister's family. Action figures are:
Colossus, one of the X-Men
From the BBC show "Primeval:"  Nick Cutter and Stephen Hart
From "Star Trek:"  Sulu
From the BBC show "Doctor Who:"  Doctor Who, the David Tennant version.

Stephen's Man Cave...imagination to reality

Stephen just moved to new digs and has a huge basement room just perfect for a Man Cave.  He invited his friends over to get their take on it. I'd say they are all in favor.

But white on white on white is boring so they head over to the new wallcovering store they heard had beer. Doctor Who says, "Whoo Hoo!"

Grasscloth could be cool...and they're not goth so there you go.

And rough and ready they are, so the stucco may be for them.

Sulu checks out the offerings.  Doc Who's got his eyes..or fingers...on some stucco...and it's on sale!

They decide to partake as long as they are there anyway.

White room is an empty shelf in a bookcase. Wallcovering store is the Lekman box. Couch is Kaleidoscope House. Coffee table and pink wine glasses are gift from Oese of Raum für Raum. Display is from the Barbie Mall. Tray is vintage German from my childhood. Wallpapers are samples.
More description later....gotta go watch some "Farscape" with my best buddy.
