Two Mini Chair Guys To Check Out

MiniatureChairMan is a wonderful blog I just found. I Googled Gregory Beylerian whose chair collection I just saw at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and found this wonderful blog.  Both Beylerian's chairs and MiniatureChairMan's blog are great fun to peruse.

Just You And The Painting

There's a new art exhibit at the museum made possible by a generous contribution from Maison Edwards. Intimate viewing booths allow a one-on-one experience with a painting. You can see paintings by VanGogh, Turner, Hockney, and Matisse.

It's nice to be able to share art with your kids.  Looks like someone might have some art schoolwork to do.

The serenity of staring at a master's work in peace.

Study guides always help.

Of course, the Art Guard is always there to make sure the paintings are safe.

Some of my favorite artists are represented here...works I'd like to see in just such a setting.
The paintings are:
House in Auvers by Vincent VanGogh
The Riverbank by Henri Matisse (my very favorite painter)
San Giorgio Maggiore by William Turner
Hawthorne Blossom, Woldgate No. 4 by David Hockney
Thanks again, Chuck. I was playing with all sorts of ideas, but what finally put 2 and 2 together was watching a movie about The National Gallery of London set in Wales. Woke up in the middle of the night and knew exactly what to do with the display case. Here's what it looks like in the hallway. I did not show the shop light attached to the garbage can.

All the action figures you all know by now. The ottoman is Barbie. Floor is the board for my son's art portfolio.

Another Gift From My Buddy, Chuck

My friend Chuck of Maison Edwards gave me a store display.....now what to do? An idea came to me during the night (see next blog for the first idea). If you have any ideas for this, I'd love to hear them.

By the way, the sections are a little too short for 1:12 when you stand the display up this way.

Ikea Soft Toy Carrier Sourcing

To all my friends who are looking for the soft toy carrier I used for a tent in my last blog. Below is the link to the only source for the soft toy carrier I could find. It looks like Ikea in the US does not sell this any longer. Problem is...I only paid about $4 for it and this is $12. Too bad. Maybe we can share the one I have?

Nod to Neomi and Thanks to Monika and The Weather

Neomi made a wonderful Seder post which inspired me (A second to the Seder and A Happy Passover to You All) and Monika sent me a whole bunch of wonderful stuff so this post is for them. Ironically, the things Monika sent included the same credenza as Neomi used in a different color.

The tent is all decked out for a wonderful afternoon..springtime in Michigan. Sulu takes a photo before the guests arrive.

Tent is an Ikea tote for stuffed animals. Credenza and cabinet are Modella from Monika....THANKS! Other items from Monika are: lanterns and luminarias, most of the plants, cake on table, most of the dishes, table, teapot and cups on table, and coffee maker. Oese gave me the souffle. Cake on credenza is an Iwako eraser. Chairs are CB Christmas ornaments. Plant stand is from the Barbie Mall. Flowers on credenza are Barbie. Flowers on table are vintage German from my childhood. I made the pillows.

Thanks to Neomi for the wonderful inspiration...your post is much better!

Now for the miniaturist's truth.  I took the tent outside because it was such a pretty day. If you look closely at the pics, you will notice that there is a chain link fence and a fence post in the photo. And you can see the corner of our neighbor's house all big and out of scale. Also, when I took the tent outside...very carefully, I thought...I did not notice that the teapot had lost its lid and that the cups were tilted. Well this hobby isn't really about perfection; it's all about FUN.

Maison Edwards Roombox

We went to see our friend, Chuck, at his smoke shop, Maison Edwards.  It is an Ann Arbor institution in Nickels Arcade, one of my favorite places in the city.  There are always regulars at Chuck's sharing philosophies and jokes under his welcoming proprietorship. His colleague gave me this cigar box and I had to make a scene in it in Chuck's honor.

Roombox is a Nicaraguan cigar box. Chair is Reac. Table is spool and wood block.  Ashtray is shell, cigarette is rolled paper dipped in coffee for the burnt end. Matches are re-ment. Ashtray is a shell. Coffee cup is from Oese. Buddha is from a local Tibetan shop. Lamp is AG Minis. I made the pillow.

My Son's Blog....The Creep's Corner

My son is an artist and has his own blog, The Creep's Corner. Click on the link or you can see it there on my list of blogs that inspire me.  If you like art, you might want to check it out. I am a proud mom...what can I say.

April Fool...Fish and Visitors Smell After 3 Days

Doctor Martha entertains Rosie and her daughter on the new patio.

Uh oh, Rosie has spied the fish in the bucket.  She thinks Doctor Martha is trying to tell her something.  Doctor Martha thought it was a pretty good April Fool joke.

I found my son's Playmobil garage (I believe that is what it was. It is wall sections, flooring sections and roofing sections) and had to make something out of it. As I could not make the pieces all fit properly...there may be some missing, I thought I would make the outside of a building. Furniture is Plan Toys and Playmobil. Food is re-ment and gifts from Oese, Monika, and my family. Accessories are Playmobil and dog dish from my son's childhood stuff. Pillows are handmade and Plan Toys.  The inside of the house seen through the windows is just photos from a home magazine.  I made the door from Legos...love those Legos.
