Pre-teens and Horses

I decided to use an item I had not used before in a scene. It's the desk. Also, two of my work colleagues have a daughter who is into horses and my sister-in-law is an accomplished horsewoman. So here's to them.

Granma sent the letter writing poster...blatant hint.

I guess dogs are cool, too.

And koalas.

Mmmm...comfy bed.

I had not used the desk as it is probably not my favorite, but it's fun to use something you don't particularly like to see what you can make of it.

My New Workplace

Okay, I have not posted in ages, thought I'd lost the mini-moxie. I quit a job, had to look for a new one; minis fell by the wayside. Got to talking about it with my husband and son and well...here we are. And, as you can see by the time posted, I couldn't sleep.

I have a wonderful new job and had the idea to well...sort of recreate my setting. Of course, I don't have the right colors of anything, but you will get the jist of it.

I work for a biopharmaceutical company so there are my glasses to wear in the lab (not a scientist...just walking through). I have a monitor connected to my laptop...big spreadsheet to work on. There is my lunchbox always under the desk.

A Little Aping Around

Sometimes you just can't control your ape. And how is he hanging from his head? C'mon down sweetie.

I could not resist a silly post with the gorilla that came with my new purse. Kipling has a gorilla hanging on each purse...goofy. I took it off but thought it would be funny in a scene.

Our Little Library with BOOKS

The sunny library.  With plants galore and an influx of new books.

A great place for brother to help sis work on homework...art no less. Mom is cleaning out the fireplace as it is the first day of spring tomorrow and she is hopeful that she won't need the warmth.

Sis is studying Klimt.

Dad is watering plants.

BOOKS!

Someone put up a new poster.

And after a busy day it is always nice to sit down together and do a little reading.

Oh, did I love making books!! I found book jacket images on the web, mini-sized them and glued them around foam core board. I couldn't stop! Here are just a few examples of some of my favorite ones. I wish my printer printed a little more clearly. Maybe running out of ink. Now I am going to look for more of certain kinds of books...specific ones I love.

Romance in a Japanese Tea Room or Just a Tad Late for Valentine's Day

A Japanese Tea Room is a perfect place for a little romance.

Flowers never hurt either.

It's a beautiful setting.

This scene was inspired by a gift from my sister and her son. They found the pretty "shelf" at Epcot. It's really a fold out card. My sister also gave me the bouquet...it's an eraser. The Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) and dumplings are also erasers.

Cookin'!

Everybody's busy in the new commercial kitchen.

Ready to make some great pastry.

Cake cutting.

Checking recipes, seeing what's available in the refrigerator, conferring on what to make next.

Look at all that yummy stuff.

Everything they need close at hand.

A great place for washing up.

Nice little stove. Always good to keep safety in mind. They have a fire extinguisher and an ambulance at the ready in case of any accidents.

Lots of pots and pans.

Thanks to my sis for the inspiration on this. She got me the wonderful little bowl with eggs and egg beater and the ambulance.

The Coffeeteria

The Coffeeteria is a favorite hangout.  It has great coffee and...no cellphones or laptops allowed!

To give credit where credit is due; my son made the carved head dude and drew the very sexy, devilish woman.  And...it was his idea to use the checkerboard for the floor.
