Pre-teens and Horses

I decided to use an item I had not used before in a scene. It's the desk. Also, two of my work colleagues have a daughter who is into horses and my sister-in-law is an accomplished horsewoman. So here's to them.

Granma sent the letter writing poster...blatant hint.

I guess dogs are cool, too.

And koalas.

Mmmm...comfy bed.

I had not used the desk as it is probably not my favorite, but it's fun to use something you don't particularly like to see what you can make of it.

MJ Arrives!

After 6 hours and 45 minutes in the car from Teresa's place in Green Bay...in THOSE shoes!...MJ is in Ann Arbor. Our friend, Billie, is not quite sure she has enough dinner to feed this "tall drink of water."

And check out all the stuff MJ has brought from her travels around the world.

Dinner is spaghetti with MJ's favorite beer Corona.

Time to take off the glamour shoes, put up those tired dogs, and take a load off.

If there is only one fork in the house, MJ should be able to have it. But she likes the adventure of eating spaghetti with chopsticks. Hope she keeps it off that nice sweater.

Tonight they relax. Tomorrow it's off to discover the joys of Ann Arbor. And tomorrow night they are invited to a Halloween party.

Wonder where MJ will sleep?

If you are wondering who MJ is and why she is on a trip around the world, check out the Jazzi Minis blog. There you will find links to MJ's other adventures.

Love Drama and Curtains

A new man comes over for a little visit. Not sure the monkey likes him. And...he brought hot dogs.

Our gal wishes he'd think about some healthier options...like maybe some fruit.

He looks around and is thinking to himself that she's got a pretty nice setup here.

What's with all the pictures of men? Well she says, "They are some old boyfriends. What of it?"

Guess he's not minding too much. Maybe he figures his picture will be on her shelf if he plays his cards right.

I love the curtain rod..it's a chop stick my son gave me.

New pillows from the curtain material.

Can't deal with description of all the items. Some of the stuff is cool, though. The fruit is Runts candy my son wanted me to add to the scene and he snuck the Jack-O-Lantern in there. The pink composition book is something I also got recently at Kiwanis that I had forgotten to photograph. The monkey is from a work colleague. The cool gold thing is my son's.

Beach Blanket Gambit or My Beau, LeBeau

Nice beach house.

Looks like it's set up for someone's birthday...wine, cheesecake, roses, presents.  What more could a person want?

What she gets is a Lego starfish from her beau, Remy LeBeau, better known as X-Man Gambit.

Another nice day ends as the sun sets over the ocean.

This room inspired by beautiful paper...a present from my sister. She also gave me the cheesecake. I made the lamp. The bottom is a champagne cork and the top is a Method dishwashing detergent bottle top painted with fingernail polish. Gambit is an action figure belonging to my son. His help was invaluable on the terrible title to this post. Yep, that is the former bathroom in my dollhouse enlarged by pulling the wall outward.

Don't Want To..Can't Leave

Lovely Living Room...NO way out.
Where's the door knob?

And here's how the whole house is looking. Some mess noted in attic..proper.  Mess in kitchen and bathroom not so much.

Scrappy

Too much work; too little time. But I have these gorgeous scraps and I just wanted a little diversion.
So, here is a tiny scene to highlight them. These are wallpaper and upholstery scraps I found at The Scrap Box. Pretty colors. I got a bunch and am itching to use them but NO TIME.

Keuken Veldt

First the Swedes bring us Ikea, now the Dutch bring us Keuken Veldt. It's a busy opening day. The manager is a little over-zealous as he shows off his new store and makes sure everyone is being helped to find "something special."

Well, the whole idea behind using the word "veldt" was that I had found a funny rhino guy from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in my son's things when we moved him back from college.  I had created this scene a little at a time over a few weeks (I've been so busy at work that I did not have time to do anything but piddle around with it) but it needed a spark. The rhino guy was my inspiration. Rhinos are on the African Veldt..hence the use of veldt, which is a Dutch word; get it? And veldt sounds like the German word Welt, as in Kitchen World...further wordplay.  To complete the joke, the rhino guy was going to be one of the shoppers. Well...do you think we could find that guy in all the boxes we brought back? Nope. There went the joke. Heck, I just decided to go with it anyway.
Some of the things on display are Barbie things I got in that huge haul I posted about recently. I painted some a more appropriate color...pink frying pans are not my thing.
The guy from the Matrix plays the store manager and Cyclops is visiting Colossus. Both guys are my son's.

this is a man's world, but it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl

Stephen has been working hard to fix his Man Cave up. He has installed shelving, bought a big ol' couch, and decorated with some of his favorite things. He loves cars, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman, photography, sci-fi, his skateboard and bike. Handcuffs???

Here come the girls.  James Brown was right when he sang that song.

And they came bearing gifts. Nyota brought pillows she made to make the new couch more comfy.

Martha brought fake plants as she knows Stephen isn't into plant care.

Rosie brought a funny dinosaur she painted pink to match her shirt.

Doctor Who went out and got a bunch of great movie posters. He knows Stephen loves campy old sci-fi movies.

Party Time! Martha and Nyota check out the cabinet.

The dino looks great next to Stephen's cool fake cactus. Stephen found the poster in Florence, Alabama. He may just have to go to Moulton to see the chicks go wild.

Fun times; good friends.

Credits later.
