Ahhh...to be in Hawaii with too many clothes on!

Beautiful black sand beach, cool cabana, lotsa drinks and...too many clothes!! Who goes to Hawaii with boots on? Who goes to Hawaii and sits on the beach in a suit? Who brings a warm jacket? I do see that they have towels in their bags and maybe swimsuits. Could be they just misjudged the weather after arriving from Michigan.

Yum...blue drinks.

I had used this Ikea laptable before in a scene but got the idea to put it up the right way. Instant cabana! And my sister and her family had brought me back black sand from Hawaii. Perfect time to make good use of it. This is the scene in progress.

Horse Theme Cont'd....Ridin' in the Loft

Just because Daddy bought a big loft and your bedroom is huge, does not mean you need to ride a horse in it for goodness sake! But, then again, you might as well if nothing else than to impress the heck out of your girl.

He's got everything a guy could want...a TV, cool posters

a gorilla,

tools, a traffic cone,

pudding for afters,

a cozy bed with fake fur,

a beanbag chair, and, well, stuff.

Later, his friend watches TV and he's left with the can of pudding.
Bare bulb industrial lighting...that's cool.

I bought the Walking Dead Carl Grimes action figure as it was finally on sale. He is really detailed as I have found out the McFarlane action figures are. Also, I think he looks pretty normal...not all the Walking Dead figures do. I like action figures as they usually look better than dolls, but sometimes action figures have strange clothes or they are zombies like some of the Walking Dead ones. I did realize when I got home that the scale is smaller than 1:12 so I had to use a lot of my smaller things...lots of Playmobil from my son's childhood. The beanbag is his hacky sack which he put with my miniature things awhile ago. I found the Deadman comic poster in a Taschen catalog and could not resist the irony of that in the bedroom of a guy from the Walking Dead TV show.

Pre-teens and Horses

I decided to use an item I had not used before in a scene. It's the desk. Also, two of my work colleagues have a daughter who is into horses and my sister-in-law is an accomplished horsewoman. So here's to them.

Granma sent the letter writing poster...blatant hint.

I guess dogs are cool, too.

And koalas.

Mmmm...comfy bed.

I had not used the desk as it is probably not my favorite, but it's fun to use something you don't particularly like to see what you can make of it.

My New Workplace

Okay, I have not posted in ages, thought I'd lost the mini-moxie. I quit a job, had to look for a new one; minis fell by the wayside. Got to talking about it with my husband and son and well...here we are. And, as you can see by the time posted, I couldn't sleep.

I have a wonderful new job and had the idea to well...sort of recreate my setting. Of course, I don't have the right colors of anything, but you will get the jist of it.

I work for a biopharmaceutical company so there are my glasses to wear in the lab (not a scientist...just walking through). I have a monitor connected to my laptop...big spreadsheet to work on. There is my lunchbox always under the desk.

At least they are "compatible"

Can't help myself; must test Lego minifig to see how they work with the UK Character Building Set micro-figure.

So..here's our lothario makin' it with Amy Pond.  At least they are "compatible" as advertised in the micro-figure literature.

Things are getting hot.

Ok...hotter. Tickle your ass with a feather? Even the flowers are upended.

Amy may not be having any of it...she found his sword. What's a Lego guy to do except give a weak uh-gee smile?

I hope this is not construed as too naughty....had to do it. This is the insert in the Character Building set my son and I got at this cool store called The Rocket. I kinda like them. We made a Tardis from Legos after we bought them. Oh, I never posted our Tardis, did I? Well, here it is also.

My son working on it.

Finished product.

Lego Prefab House Mimic

I have been reading the book Prefab Houses published by Taschen. Don't see myself getting one any time soon so, once again, I go to our Lego collection.  Here is my inspiration. The houses are designed by Jean Prouve and are called Maison Standard Metropole. This is from a colony in Meudon, France in 1949.

Another example.

And...here is my version. My son made the car.

Interior

Living room with TV. Big windows and a
nice view so one can birdwatch.

TV

Watch out, Lothario coming into bedroom. This is our new musketeer minifig.

Luckily, he left his sword in the kitchen.

Chest of drawers and lamp.

Kitchen.

Bathroom

Sink detail with mirror.

Toilet detail with TP.

Tub detail.

Our other new minifig the wizard is knocking at the door.

Legos are my way to totally relax. You can't be thinking about too many problems in your life if you are desperately trying to find a way to make Legos look like stone walls or bathroom fixtures. And where is that perfect piece? Don't have one? Root around in the buckets until you find a reasonable facsimile.
