House Update...Peaceful "Rest"room

Serenity and nature abound in this restful room.

I have always wanted a chair in the bathroom for some reason.  So now I have room for one.

The kitchen is finished! Bright paint and plank flooring make it a pretty nice place to hang out while dinner is cooking.

Some coffee and beignets.

A quick check on the bread and dinner is almost done.

And, here's how the rest of the house is coming along. And, yes, Mad for Mod, I did paint the ceilings white just like you suggested...good suggestion.

MICRO-ANGELO PAINTING THE CEILING

Well, at dinner the other night we started out talking about whether or not I was going to be working on painting the dollhouse. From there we went on to discuss whether or not I was going to paint the ceilings. Then, in a house full of punsters, we came up with MICRO-ANGELO who could paint the ceiling. And....here he is.  I have been wanting to use this little guy since my work colleague Maria gave him to me. He's not wearing much because he doesn't want to get paint on his clothes. His big feet provide good balance for the work he does, especially since what he's standing on is not the safest.

Yep, I am starting the house painting. That's the bedroom in the picture. I was going to be safe and go the white wall route, but this is for PLAY and you should do what you want. I have always wanted bold walls and now I will have them. Here are my colors. 

pale bluish green - bathroom

purple - bedroom

brown - living room

deep red - dining room

deep yellow - kitchen

The paints are pods from Ace Hardware. They are supposed to help one decide what color to paint a wall. Just buy a few colors and paint a patch of wall to see how you like it. They have tons of cool colors.

MY FIRST DOLLHOUSE!!!! or I LOVE MY HUSBAND!!!

Well, I may be crazy. I found this dollhouse at the Salvation Army Thrift Store yesterday for 25.99!!!

I could not pass it up. But, as I brought it in the door, it got bigger and bigger and bigger. It looked kinda small in the store. So my dear, wonderful, absolutely stupendous husband who probably thought I was nuts moves his stuff off the top of the storage drawers I have miniature stuff in and puts my dollhouse on it. And then he puts my action figures on the porch, takes photos, and sends them to me at work in an email with a sweet message. Lots of crap at work so it came at just the right time. Gotta love a guy who is ok with a HUGE dang dollhouse in a tiny study already crammed with my dollhouse junk.

The dollhouse is a Cherrydale made by Walmer Dollhouses. Real Good Toys has a Liliput Cherrydale version that is similar but fancier as far as I can tell. The simpler one sells for 159.00.  This was already mostly put together except for trims, stairs, porch railing.  And, some of that stuff is missing. It is supposed to be Victorian, but I am going to do a modern take on it. It will be a challenge as I am not really the expert on doing trim and stuff like that. A learning experience to be sure. It is 1:12 scale. It'll be slow going as I don't always have lots of time for minis, but it should be fun doing it.
